The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris will officially begin with the opening ceremony Friday, July 26, and Coloradans will have plenty of their own to cheer for.
Across 32 sports, there will be nearly 11,000 athletes, with 30 of them from the Centennial State. This may seem like a small slice of the pie, but according to Team USA, Colorado contributes the sixth-largest group of Olympians and Paralympians out of the 50 states, trailing behind California, Florida, Texas, Illinois and Pennsylvania.
This summer’s Games are the first regularly scheduled summer Olympics since 2016 in Brazil, since the 2020 Games were postponed to 2021 due to COVID. Although the opening ceremony is July 26, some events start as early as July 24, and the Games will officially conclude August 11.
Whether Coloradans are going for a lively, family-friendly or themed atmosphere, the Denver metro area has no shortage of events for Coloradans to choose from in terms of where to celebrate.
