Dorance Armstrong grew up in Houston, Texas, and later played college football at Kansas. In three seasons for the Jayhawks, Armstrong registered 34.5 tackles for loss, 15.5 sacks and six forced fumbles. He declared early for the 2018 NFL draft and was selected by the Dallas Cowboys.
Through his first three seasons, Armstrong had 2.5 sacks in a mostly reserve role. However, his fortunes changed for the better in 2021 when Dan Quinn took over as defensive coordinator. Armstrong proceeded to have his best three NFL seasons in a part-time role. Now, Armstrong follows Quinn to Washington, where he will play even more as the Commanders’ top pass rusher.
