Ohio State fans can’t seem to decide about anything in the program. One day, they love head coach Ryan Day, and the next day, they want him fired. Most fanbases are like Ohio State’s flip-flopping about everything going on with their team. Still, since the Buckeyes are the most enormous fanbase in college football, it gets noticed the most, and now they don’t know if they like or not like Texas’s quarterback Quinn Ewers.
Quinn Ewers Was Once At Ohio StateTexas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers celebrates his touchdown in the first quarter against the Kansas Jayhawks at Royal-Memorial Stadium on Saturday September 30, 2023.
In the fall of 2021, Quinn Ewers reclassified and joined Ohio State as a freshman. At the time, the Buckeyes were rolling out first-year starter C. J. Stroud, and Ewers was never going to be part of Ohio State’s plans in 2021 and even 2022, with Stroud being the main guy.
Ewers was once committed to Texas before de-committing and choosing Ohio State, and many thought he would be part of the Buckeyes forever. Still, he only stayed in Columbus for one season and decided to return to his home state and play for Texas.
Ewers made the correct choice because he would never start at Ohio State in 2022. After all, Stroud was in front of him, and he won the starting job for Texas that season so that he would have wasted a year with the Buckeyes.
Of course, Ohio State fans were not happy about Ewers leaving their team after one season, and the majority of that anger had to be because he took a lot of NIL money from boosters and didn’t even play a meaningful snap for the team.
When Texas was making their run last year, many Buckeye fans were on social media rooting against their former player because he was supposed to be the guy playing quarterback for their team and not Kyle McCord, who couldn’t complete a 10-yard pass.
Ohio State lost to Michigan and did not reach the College Football Playoffs last year. To make matters worse, Texas made the playoffs, and they had to watch Ewers play in the big game. The Longhorns lost to Washington in the playoffs, but Ewers returned to school for another year, and this week, during SEC media days, the Texas quarterback made fun of his former school’s biggest rival.

Ohio State refers to its rival Michigan as the Team Up North and does not use the name Michigan when referring to them. It’s nice to see that Ohio State fans know their geography and that Michigan is north of them, so that’s good, but it’s just a silly way to refer to your rival who has owned you the past three years and Ewers even got in on this week.
Texas will head to play Michigan in Week Two this season, and Ewers was talking about how great the environment will be at the Big House and all the hype with it being an early game and coming off of winning it all and referred to them as the Team Up North.

Even though Ewers was only at Ohio State for a semester, he did learn something about their rival Michigan, and he was able to get back into the hearts of Buckeye fans after he took a shot at the Wolverines.
