Trump has distanced himself from Project 2025, describing the organisation as the product of “extreme” conservatives.
The think-tank has set out a controversial vision for another Trump term, which opponents have described as a threat to American democracy.
Trump accused “the other side” of painting him as an extreme politician.
“I’m not, I’m a person with great common sense, I’m not an extremist at all.
“Like, some on the right, the severe right, they’ve come up with this Project ’25. I don’t even know — I mean, some of them I know I know who they are but they’re very, very conservative.
“They’ve come up with this Project ’25 — I don’t know what the hell it is, it’s Project ’25.
“I don’t know anything about it, I don’t want to know anything about it.”
