Jeremiah Smith is about to begin his highly-anticipated freshman season at Ohio State.
The former five-star wide receiver will make his Ohio State debut Aug. 31 at 3:30 p.m. against Akron on CBS in a room that includes Emeka Egbuka, Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss.

Smith is not only the latest five-star wide receiver to commit to Ohio State. He is one of the highest-rated recruits to ever sign with the program.
As the No. 1 player in the 2024 recruiting class per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Smith, per 247Sports, is the second-best recruit to sign with Ohio State in program history. Smith is ranked behind five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers, who signed with Ohio State in the 2021 class and spent a season with the Buckeyes before he transferred to Texas.
Smith is the highest-rated wide receiver prospects to have ever committed to Ohio State ahead of players such as 2026 five-star Chris Henry Jr., who committed to the Buckeyes in July 2023, Julian Fleming and Egbuka.

When it comes to five-star wide receivers that have signed with Ohio State during the Brian Hartline era, Smith is one of many.
Since Garrett Wilson signed with the Buckeyes in 2019, Ohio State has signed seven five-star wide receivers including two in 2024: Smith and Mylan Graham.
Ohio State also has a five-star committed in the 2026 class in Henry.
Jeremiah Smith is one of six Florida natives on Ohio State 2024 roster
Smith is one of a handful of Florida natives on Ohio State’s roster heading into the 2024 season.
Smith, from Miami Gardens, is joined by Inniss (Hollywood), wide receiver Bryson Rodgers (Zephyrhills), defensive end Kenyatta Jackson Jr. (Hollywood) and safety Leroy Roker III (Fort Myers) as Florida natives on the Buckeyes roster.
Since 2019, Ohio State has landed 10 Florida players through recruiting. Four of those players – Mason Arnold, Kye Stokes, Ryan Turner and Cedrick Hawkins – transferred out of Ohio State.
Jeremiah Smith had back-to-back 1,000-yard high school football seasons
Smith showed off why he was the No. 1 player in the 2024 recruiting class in his time at Chaminade-Madonna.
According to MaxPreps, Smith had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons as a junior and senior, combining for 2,487 receiving yards and 39 touchdowns in 2022 and 2023.
