These days, every team in the NBA must have a reliable player who can space the floor via his outside shooting. Turns out, former Phoenix Suns shooting guard Landry Shamet is still available in the market and the Milwaukee Bucks’ front office is eyeing him for next season.
Shamet has played for several teams in the NBA, including the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, and most recently, the Washington Wizards.

Born in Missouri, the shooting guard played college basketball for the Wichita State Shockers. He was selected 26th overall by the Sixers in the 2018 NBA draft and spent his rookie season with the team. In 2019, he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, where he played for one season.
Shamet then signed with the Brooklyn Nets in 2020 and spent the 2020-2021 season with the team. In 2021, he was traded to the Phoenix Suns, where he played for two seasons before being traded to the Washington Wizards in 2023.
Throughout his professional career, Shamet has been known for his sharpshooting abilities and has been recognized for his performance on the court, earning the NBA All-Rookie Second Team honor in 2019. He has also been selected to the First-team All-AAC and First-team All-MVC during his college career at Wichita State.

In order for All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, one of the greatest stars to play for the Milwaukee Bucks, to make the most damage possible on the court, the two-time MVP must be surrounded by shooters. In this regard, the team’s front office is reportedly eyeing Shamet, as seen in an article written by Andrew Peters for Bleacher Report.
Per HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks have all shown interest in the guard. Scotto noted that the Wizards are also still in play.
“Free agent guard Landry Shamet has received exploratory interest from the Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, and New York Knicks, league sources told HoopsHype,” Scotto wrote. “A possible return to the Washington Wizards also hasn’t been ruled out, HoopsHype has learned.”
Over the course of six seasons in the league, Shamet has notched 8.7 points on an average of 21.9 minutes per game. More importantly, he has connected 38 percent of his shots from beyond the arc throughout that period.

It remains to be seen where Shamet will sign up before the upcoming season starts. If he does end up with the the core of Antetokounmpo, All-Star guard Damian Lillard, and company, expect the Bucks to be more dangerous than ever.
