The NBA Summer League is officially underway and last night tipped off the Salt Lake City Summer League in Utah. A former Ohio State basketball standout had a solid performance with the Utah Jazz in their Summer League opener.
Brice Sensabaugh helped power the Jazz to an overtime win last night against the Memphis Grizzlies in the team’s first game in the Summer League. Sensabaugh got the start for the Jazz and was the second leading scorer for them last night with 15 points and 6 rebounds while shooting 5 of 12 from the field.
In 23 minutes of action, he showed off his ability to create his own shot including a nice step-back three in the fourth quarter. Sensabaugh also drilled two more threes, one off a ball-screen and the other was a catch-and-shoot while spotted up in the corner. He finished the game three of seven from deep.

Even though he may have had a really nice pass that led to a dunk for his only assist of the game, the former Buckeye does need to have fewer turnovers. He turned the ball over SEVEN times in last night’s game. If he wants meaningful minutes late in a close game, he will need to improve on taking care of the ball.
Sensabaugh is heading into his second season in the NBA looking for an increased role in the Jazz’s rotation. He appeared in 32 games last season and averaged 7.5 points per game in 18.3 minutes per game.
With the unique scoring ability Brice Sensabaugh presents, there will be opportunities for him to have a significant role in Utah. The Jazz have been in numerous trade discussions, and if any trades go through it could open up a spot for the former Buckeye.
