This has been a really remarkable roller coaster for Texas A&M baseball. Not two weeks ago, it really seemed like the Aggies would be dead in the water after Jim Schlossnagle headed to Texas. All of their impact players were in the portal, their incoming players were wavering, and the Longhorns had their sights squarely set on robbing their roster blind.
As we stand today, the Aggies have lost not a one of their impact guys to the Longhorns, and they are, in fact, looking to have—somehow—an even better roster than last year. This is all thanks to Michael Earley and the incredible work he has done so far as the Aggies’ coach.
He’s been on a hot streak on the trail recently, one that has continued into these last few days. Here are the most recent pickups for the Aggies.
Bolstering the pitching staff is Clayton Freshcorn, a RHP from Mclennan Community College up in Waco. MCC is well-known for their baseball program in the JUCO ranks, having won the national championship as recently as 2021. Freshcorn looks to contribute immediately, as he is ready to slide right into this lineup, boasting a 2.36 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 79 strikeouts in 61 innings.
The good news continued yesterday, as the hard-hitting infielder from Rice, Ben Royo, committed to the Aggies. Royo earned all-conference honors last year, hitting 13 homers and driving in 40 runs for the Owls. He will be a top-level depth guy right behind this lineup, which could be one of the toughest in the entire country to crack.
Finally, the Aggies got a big time commitment from Alabama State’s Jamal George, who is currently playing alongside Gavin Grahovac on Team USA.
BREAKING: UTIL Jamal George has committed to transfer to Texas A&M!!
In two years at Alabama St., George hit .299 with 16 HR’s, 70 RBI’s, & 51 walks🔥

George hit .316 for Alabama State last season to go along with 10 homers and 36 RBI. As a catcher, he plays a position for which the Aggies have been in desperate need of depth, so this is no small potatoes.

Texas A&M baseball is absolutely cleaning up in the portal. The Aggies will enter next season as one of the top teams in the nation once more, without a doubt.
