Tori Franklin is an Olympian again.
The former Michigan State track and field standout will compete in the triple jump for Team USA in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Franklin finished 25th in the triple jump at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Although Franklin took home bronze in the triple jump during the U.S. Track and Field Trials on June 22 in Oregon, her leap of 13.72 meters didn’t meet the Olympic standard and her addition to the American squad was officially announced Tuesday.
Franklin will be joined on Team USA by Heath Baldwin, who followed his senior season at Michigan State by winning the decathlon during the trials to secure trip to Paris.
Franklin, 31, is a Chicago native who starred for the Spartans from 2011-15 while earning All-American honors and winning the Big Ten’s triple jump both indoors and outdoors. Her leap of 13.41 meters in 2013 remains the program record in the outdoor triple jump.
After her first Olympic appearance, Franklin won bronze in the triple jump at the 2022 World Championships as the first American woman to medal in the event.
Qualifying for the triple jump at the Paris Olympics will be Aug. 2 with the finals the following day.
