The Ohio State football program has been killing it on the recruiting trail. They have the best recruiting class in the country and have been on a roll in the last couple of weeks. Recruits have been committing in big numbers gobbling up spots in the 2025 recruiting class.
Ohio State has done a good job of filling needs in this class. One of the biggest needs was to create more depth along the defensive line following a class that only saw two defensive line recruits in 2024. They landed another defensive line recruit on Monday.
Maxwell Roy committed to the Ohio State football program on Monday evening. He is from Philadelphia out of St. Joseph’s Prep School. Roy becomes the second recruit from St. Joseph’s to commit to the Buckeyes in 2025, following running back Isaiah West.
Roy chose the Buckeyes over Michigan and Rutgers. It’s yet another recruiting win for Ohio State over Michigan in this cycle. The Wolverines are having major issues recruiting after they lost most of their coaching staff and with sanctions from the NCAA on the horizon.
As far as Roy goes, he is a very solid player. He stands at 6’3 and 285 pounds. He’s a very strong defensive tackle on the inside and is hard to move. Roy is exactly the kind of player that the Buckeyes need on the defensive line to help stop the run.
Roy is yet another recruit to commit in the last week. Ohio State’s recruiting class now stands at 22 recruits and their lead for the best class in the country has widened. It’s on track to be the best recruiting class in school history and it will only get better.
This is shaping up to be a very large recruiting class. We’ll see how many recruits they eventually decide to take.
