The list is now an even 10.
After the Florida Panthers outlasted the Edmonton Oilers in seven games to clinch the 2024 Stanley Cup with a 2-1 victory Monday night at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, they’ve crossed their name off the list of teams who’ve never won the NHL’s famed championship trophy.

Removing the Panthers leaves 10 active teams, including the Blue Jackets, who’ve never won the league’s championship. Three defunct teams — the Brooklyn Americans, Cleveland Barons and Philadelphia Quakers ― remain on the list permanently.
Florida’s drought ended with the Panthers’ 10th appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, orchestrated by president of hockey operations/general manager Bill Zito, a former Blue Jackets executive, and capped with a sterling performance in Game 7 by former Blue Jackets star goalie Sergei Bobrovsky.
The Jackets, who haven’t qualified for the postseason since 2019-20, are 0-for-6 in bids to win a championship and one of two NHL teams ― the other being the Seattle Kraken (2021 expansion) — who’ve never reached the conference final stage.
Columbus has only won one playoff series in its history, stunning the hockey world in 2019 with a sweep of the Presidents’ Trophy winning Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round. The Buffalo Sabres and Vancouver Canucks are tied for the longest dry spell without a Stanley Cup, as neither have hoisted the coveted chalice despite 29 playoff appearances each.
The Minnesota Wild, who entered the NHL with the Blue Jackets in 2000-01 as an expansion team, are 0-for-13 in their franchise’s history.
