Donald Trump wants pizza from a Michigan-based chain delivered on gameday

Former President Donald Trump is attending Saturday’s college football showdown between Alabama and Georgia.

He’s the guest of Alabama businessman Ric Mayers, AL.com reported, who was also apparently put in charge of ordering food requested by the 45th president and current Republican nominee.

“I like a good steak,’’ Mayers told AL.com. “But President Trump’s (food preferences) are as mundane as it gets.”

Apparently, Trump requested two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches with cheese from McDonald’s, stadium hotdogs, Ann Arbor-based Domino’s pizza and Diet Coke.

Founded in 1960, Domino’s Pizza is the largest pizza company in the world with more than 20,900 stores in more than 90 markets.

It is one of several notable pizza chains headquartered in Michigan along with Little Caesars (Detroit), Jet’s (Sterling Heights) and Hungry Howie’s (Madison Heights).

It might seem like an odd choice, but the former president’s love of fast food is no secret. He’s talked about it in interviews in the past.

When Trump hosted the Clemson Tigers at the White House in 2019 to celebrate their national championship, he told reporters he was serving the team McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and Burger King. Trump paid for the meal himself, citing the government shutdown at the time.

A few months later, when Trump welcomed the FCS champion North Dakota State Bison, he served them Big-Macs and Chick-fil-A sandwiches.

Kickoff between No. 2 Georgia and No. 4 Alabama is set for 7:30 p.m.
