USPS announces cost-saving measures, no stamp price increase

A Forever Stamp is being released by the United States Postal Service in honor of late “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek.

The U.S. Postal Service announced a remarkable change to the price of postage stamps on Friday Sept. 20, 2024.

According to the press release, the price of a stamp will not increase in January 2025 as part of their operational strategies, which includes cost efficiency.

This change that was accepted by the Governors of the United States Postal Service.

“Our strategies are working and projected inflation is declining,” said Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, who also receommedend the change. “Therefore, we will wait until at least July before proposing any increases for market dominant services.”

A recent price increase for stamps was implemented in July 2024. Here are the current costs:

Letters (1 oz.) costs 73 centsLetters (metered 1 oz.) costs 69 centsDomestic Postcards costs 56 centsInternational Postcards costs $1.65International Letter (1 oz.) costs $1.65

The Postal Service remains committed to continued cost saving measures and to keeping its products and services affordable the report stated.
