Weezer at Moody Center, A Giant Dog

Welcome to another weekend in the Live Music Capital of the World. Not sure which shows to check out? Here are our picks.

Saturday: Radio East hosts A Giant Dog’s tour homecoming

Hardcore heroes A Giant Dog are punctuating their tour with one final show for 2024 at Radio East with Farmer’s Wife, J. Graves and Parker Woodland on Saturday. The Statesman spoke with leading duo Sabrina Elllis and Andrew Cashen ahead of their homecoming.

“Tour is insane, but it’s not for everybody. I don’t think I’ve evolved from being a nomadic person. I feel much healthier on tour,” A Giant Dog singer Sabrina Ellis said. “There are nights where your legs are pain sticks, and I wonder how I’m going to pitch my body around like a rag doll. But then the drums start up, and it’s like war. Your primal self kicks in, and you’re ready.”

AGD has been dripping with irreverence for the last 16 years, but will be taking a well-deserved hiatus following their extended tour, which included a run of dates with Spoon. What’s next for the creatives? A cover album is a budding concept. The band is meeting fans with a new disposition, and Saturday’s show closes a chapter so they can start anew.

“I’m grateful that people come out,” Ellis said. “We do everything we can to provide the catharsis that people need from a punk show. Sometimes it feels like I’m getting my soul sucked out through my face.”

Reminder: This is your final chance to see A Giant Dog this year.
