Summer in the Harrisburg area had long stretches of dry weather. Mother Nature is making up for that a bit this week, when “chance of showers” is in the weather forecast through at least Saturday.
For today, Wednesday, that could include thunderstorms in the midafternoon. The could continue on and off into early Thursday. The Weather Channel says the greatest likelihood of rain today is from 3 to 6 p.m.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday forecasts call for at least a chance of rain — with high temperatures in the 70s, according to the National Weather Service in State College.

Tropical Storm Helene is expected to grow into a hurricane and hit Florida and Georgia. The size of the storm means Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana could get rain from it as well. The National Hurricane Center has predicted Helene will move up through the central part of the country, well west of Pennsylvania, not along the East Coast.
