RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A man had to be taken to the hospital after he was bit in the leg by a coyote on USA Parkway.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife says Alex Pheneger was at a job site at Switch off USA Parkway just before 6:00 a.m. on Monday when the incident happened.
He told wildlife officials that he exited his car and grabbed tools when he felt a bite on the back of his left leg. He then turned to see a coyote.
Pheneger was taken to the hospital where he was treated for the bite.
A game warden from the Nevada Department of Wildlife responded to the area and was told the coyotes were being fed by the people on the job site. Another report from the same day found that another worker was also bitten on the pant leg by a coyote, but that the bite did not contact the skin.
Wardens killed three coyotes on the jobs site due to them attacking humans. They were sent to be tested for rabies at the state lab.
