The USA TODAY Sports Super 25 national football rankings enter the final rush of September action with two new teams appearing in Week 6, each making a significant jump into the latest poll.
At the top of the rankings, Mater Dei’s (Santa Ana, Calif.) impressive win over perennial power St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, Md.) keeps the Monarchs at No. 1. The top 9 chasing the Southern California team also held ground after last week’s performances.

At the same time, a tough North Crowley (Fort Worth, Texas) team continues to dominate the Texas high school football landscape, with the Panthers’ rise up the the high school football hierarchy now entering the top 10.
Outside looking in, more than a few teams are making a serious push as the season nears October. And, based on the wild upset trend so far, it’s still safe to expect the unexpected.
