Together, we celebrate this recognition, not just as a mark of excellence, but as a collective achievement that highlights the strength of our three communities.”

About the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Schools are recognized either as Exemplary High Performing Schools or Exemplary Achievement Gap-Closing Schools.

To be eligible, schools must submit a comprehensive application detailing student performance, curriculum and community engagement. This process encourages schools to reflect on their achievements and strategies for improvement.

Up to 420 schools may be nominated each year. In 2024, the U.S. Department of Education recognized 356 schools nationwide.

With more than 98,000 K-12 public schools in the United States, the award underscores the significant achievements of these North Dakota institutions.
