Go to our poll and vote! Voting will be open each week from 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday to 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.

It’s official, New Jersey: fall has arrived.

At 8:43 a.m. this past Sunday, the sun’s rays slipped below the equator to the Southern Hemisphere, ushering in the beginning of cool weather season.

Or, in the Garden State? Apple cider donut season.

If we’re being honest, though, we’ve been devouring those deep-fried, fruit-laden rings since they hit the shelves in late August, and — judging from how active you guys have been in our competition to name the state’s best — so have you.

Regardless, the equinox has passed, the orchards are packed and its serendipitously time to crown a winner.

Will it be Bergen County gem Demarest Farms? Or Sussex’s charming Windy Brow? That, dessert-lovers, is up to you.

Vote below for who you think makes the best apple cider donut in the state.

A refresher on the rules:

For four weeks, you will be voting to help us name the top apple cider donut in North Jersey. Beginning with 16 spots (nominated by readers), voting will be open each week from 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday to 11:59 p.m. on Thursday. The winning restaurant in each pairing will advance to the next round until — by the end of the month — we arrive at the North Jersey’s best.

The Finals voting guide:Voting for this bracket begins at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, and ends at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.You can vote once per matchup, per round.A formal announcement of the winner will occur by Tuesday Oct. 1.

Now, let’s vote.

Demarest Farms vs. Windy Brow Farms

Is Demarest Farms the most well-known PYO farm in Bergen County? It might be. Founded in the mid-1800s, the “jewel” of the area (as the team calls it) offers a variety of u-pick produce for guests to enjoy. When we visit, however, we don’t pick any pumpkins, strawberries or peaches — because we’re too busy blowing our budget on an obscene amount of hot, tasty apple cider donuts. Go: 244 Werimus Rd., Hillsdale; 201-666-0472, demarestfarms.com.

Everything the bakers, chefs and ice cream makers serve at Windy Brow Farms is fantastic. From artisan pizzas to wood-fired meatballs, the Fredon Township gem has a menu to rival a restaurant — and we’re so here for it. After you grab an apple cider donut, then, we urge you to stay for dinner. But, if you can’t, you’ll still be wowed by one of the freshest, most mouthwatering fried rings in the state. Go: 359 Ridge Road, Fredon Township; 973-579-9657, windybrowfarms.com.
