Joe Biden forgets to introduce PM Modi; here’s all about Biden’s latest gaffe and other Oops Moments | World News

PTC News Desk: US President Joe Biden forgot he was supposed to introduce Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. Not only did Biden forget, but he also asked repeatedly who he was supposed to introduce next, despite the fact that PM Modi was on the dais alongside other Quad leaders, Australian PM Anthony Albanese and Japanese PM Fumio Kishida.

In a video surfacing on social media, Biden can be seen thanking those present at the event. All four Quad leaders are seated onstage.

“So I want to thank you all for being here,” Biden added. However, he loses his train of thought soon after. “Who am I introducing next?” he asks, looking at his aides.

The moderator of the event then announced Prime Minister Modi’s name for his address.

This was not Joe Biden’s first forgetful moment at a public occasion.  In recent years, Joe Biden has frozen up during public appearances and stumbled over his speech, prompting fears about the 81-year-old President’s mental condition.

Here are some of the US President’s gaffes from recent years:

Biden introduces Zelensky as ‘President Putin’

While speaking to the media about NATO’s aid for Ukraine in July, Joe Biden raised eyebrows by mistakenly calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “President Putin” in front of the assembled world leaders.

“And now I want to hand it over to the President of Ukraine, who has shown as much courage as he has determination. Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin,” Biden said.

However, he instantly realised his mistake and apologised. However, everyone present witnessed the awkward incident, which the President explained occurred because he was “so focused on beating” the Kremlin leader.

Biden refers to Kamala Harris as ‘Vice President Trump’

In July, during the same conference where Biden mistakenly referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as President Putin, he erroneously referred to his Vice President Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump”.

“Look, I wouldn’t have picked vice president Trump to be vice president if she was not qualified to be president. So start there,” he stated.

Biden mistakes Egypt for Mexico

In February of this year, Biden appeared to confuse Egypt with Mexico while discussing the current Middle East war between Israel and Hamas. “The president of Mexico did not want to open up the gate to allow humanitarian material to get in,” stated Biden. “I talked with him.”I persuaded them to open the gate,” he added.

Confusing world leaders

In the same month, the US President mistakenly stated that he met Francois Mitterand, who died in 1996, at the G7 summit in 2021. “Mitterrand from Germany – I mean, from France – looked at me and said, ‘You know, what… why… how long you back for?” President Biden said,

The same week, he stated that he had talked with German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, who died in 2017, regarding the January 6, 2021 riots. He was thinking of Angela Merkel.

Forgetting the name of Hamas

In February, during a press conference, Biden appeared to be unable to recollect the name of Hamas. He was asked about Israel’s hostage negotiations with Hamas.

“There is some movement, and I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna…,” the 81-year-old said before pausing. “Let me choose my words – there’s some movement, there’s been … a response from the, uh….”

“There’s been a response … from … the opposition, but, um -” Biden said. He sounded confused about what he was supposed to say before finally saying, “Yes, I’m sorry, from Hamas.”
