Tell us: Is the Detroit Lions’ defense for real?

The Detroit Lions defense has had some shaky moments to start their 2024 campaign. But through three games, one thing is clear: they have the ability to prevent opponents from scoring in bunches.

In one of their most impressive performances this season, the Lions defense held the Arizona Cardinals to just 277 yards of total offense — 200 passing yards and 77 on the ground — during their 20-13 win on Sunday. This came a week removed from the Cardinals racking up a staggering 489 yards in a 41-10 win over division rival Los Angeles Rams.

Aside from the season opener, where Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 317 yards, the Lions defense has been solid against opposing quarterbacks, allowing an average of just 216 passing yards per game. Their rush defense remains one of the best in the league, holding running backs to an average of 76.7 yards per game, ranking fourth in the NFL.

With new additions to the secondary — Carlton Davis and rookie Terrion Arnold — and on the defensive line — DJ Reader and Marcus Davenport — the Lions defense is starting to click, allowing just 17.7 points per game, eighth-best in the NFL. The Lions are also eighth in interceptions with three.

As they prepare for their Monday Night Football showdown next week against the Seattle Seahawks, MLive wants to hear from you: Has your outlook on the Lions’ defense changed after three games?

Please give us your name and hometown, and a few sentences on each question. Some of your responses may be used in a follow-up story.
