Michigan auto-industry will fail without him says Donald Trump

Donald Trump believes the auto industry is in trouble but that Elon Musk’s electric vehicles could help. There is one Tesla factory in Michigan.

Former President Donald Trump will make another trip to Michigan on Friday, this time delivering remarks at a manufacturing facility in a Grand Rapids suburb and hosting a town hall at Macomb Community College in Warren.

Trump’s remarks, planned for 2 p.m. at FALK Productions in Walker, and 6 p.m. at Macomb Community College, will mark his 10th visit this year to Michigan, a battleground state expected to be one of several crucial to deciding the presidential election between Trump and the Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris.

The events are open to the general public, although general admission tickets have to be registered for online at Trump’s campaign website. Doors will open at 11 a.m. for the Walker event, and at 3 p.m. for the Warren event.

Trump most recently visited Michigan last Tuesday, when he held a “town hall” discussion in Flint. His running mate on the Republican ticket, U.S. Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, also held an event in Michigan on the same day, speaking to supporters in Kent County. Vance is slated to visit Traverse City on Wednesday.

Harris also was in Michigan last week, joining TV host Oprah Winfrey Thursday night for a campaign event livestreamed from Farmington Hills.

Presidential campaigns have routinely visited Michigan in recent weeks and months, as the state is once again expected to be a key battleground to decide who wins the presidential election between Harris and Trump this November. Opinion polls currently show a close race in Michigan, with the RealClearPolling average currently giving Harris a 1.7 percentage point lead.
