Cam Rising is a “game-time call” against Oklahoma State, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. The Utah quarterback is currently dealing with a hand injury.
“Sources: Utah QB Cam Rising is a game-time call vs. Oklahoma State,” Thamel wrote on Twitter. “There’s an expectation he’ll attempt to play, but he’s not expected to be 100-percent with an injury on his throwing hand.”

Thamel even noted some positives during the ‘College GameDay Podcast’ on Friday. Rece Davis was introducing Utah’s game at Oklahoma State for them to make their weekend picks and mentioned Rising’s status.
With that, Thamel jumped in by saying he would be starting for them in their conference opener in Stillwater.
“Assuming that Cam Rising – and Pete may have information on this. If Cam Rising can go at quarterback?…” said Davis
“He will,” Thamel interjected.
During his selection for the Big 12 matchup, Thamel provided more on Rising’s hand and how they’re handling that injury.
“He obviously had the hand injury,” Thamel added. “He warmed up with a glove last week. It’ll be interesting to see if he has a glove or not on that throwing hand. We’ll get a full read on that.”

Through an appearance and a half in his seventh collegiate season, Rising has gone 18-29 (62.1%) in passing for 346 yards, seven touchdowns, and no interceptions. That includes a career-high of five passing touchdowns in the first game. He has also rushed for 46 yards at 7.7 per carry.
Rising looked very much back in Utah’s opener against Southern Utah. In their next game against Baylor, though, he left with a hand injury after taking a hit out of bounds where he fell into the water coolers on the Bears’ sideline. Although bloodied, the Utes didn’t feel as though the matter was too significant. However, they did decide to hold him out of their last game at Utah State as Isaac Wilson started.
