New book details cover-up, search for justice following 1857 slaughter of Arkansas migrants in Utah

This is the route that emigrants intended to travel from Arkansas to California in 1857. Scores of men, women and children were massacred at Mountain Meadows in Utah after being attacked by Latter-day Saint militiamen and Native Americans.

In Sept. 1857, scores of California-bound emigrants — mostly from Arkansas — were murdered in the remote high desert of southern Utah.
Only 17 children, 6 years old or younger, were spared.
