Leila de Lima, Kiko Pangilinan To Run in 2025 Midterm Elections
KIKO PANGILINAN – The former Senator will seek a Senate comeback while former Sen. Leila de Lima will run as a party-list representative.
The results of the 2022 Elections did not favor the Liberal Party, one of the most popular political parties in the Philippines. The Leni-Kiko tandem lost in the presidential and the vice presidential races. Most of the senators in their slate also lost.
Former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo and former Sen. Kiko Pangilinan were both strong candidates in the Elections 2022 but they lost to the BBM-Sara team-up. Meanwhile, both the 2022 presidential and the vice presidential candidates are ready for another race in the upcoming election next year.
According to the Liberal Party, former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo will run for mayor in Naga City in the 2025 Midterm Election. Her late husband, former interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, has served as the mayor of Naga for several years.

The late Jesse Robredo was the mayor of Naga City before then-Pres. Noynoy Aquino appointed him as the interior secretary. As mayor, he was known for his simplicity. He is even popular as the mayor who used to wear a pair of slippers only when roaming around on ordinary days.
Jesse and Leni’s marriage was blessed with three (3) daughters — Aika, Tricia, and Jillian. However, in 2012, the then-interior Secretary died in a chopper crash in Masbate Bay.

Aside from former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo’s mayoralty candidacy in Naga in the 2025 Midterm Elections, the Liberal Party also announced the election bid of her running-mate in the previous election, former Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.
Based on a report on GMA News’ Balitambayan, former Quezon Representative Erin Tañada announced in the national assembly of the Liberal Party that former Sen. Kiko Pangilinan will seek a Senate comeback in the 2025 Midterm Election. The assembly was held in San Juan City.

Aside from Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, former Sen. Leila de Lima is also running in the 2025 Midterm Election. Based on the report, De Lima is the first nominee of the LP’s sectoral wing, the Mamamayang Liberal or the ML partylist group.
The second and third nominees of the ML party-list are former congressmen Teddy Baguilat and Erin Tañada. Based on the report, a partylist may secure up to three (3) congressional seats based on the number of votes.
“Naging mahapdi ang ating pagkatalo nu’ng 2022, pero ‘di tayo sumuko patuloy tayong nag-organisa,” Tañada said.
