When asked about former president and current Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s security at the Alabama football vs. Georgia game Sept. 28, the acting director of the U.S. Secret Service said that his teams “know what they have to do to make a secure environment” while not going into specific details.
“I’m not going to comment on protectees’ schedules, but what I’ll tell you is that each advance is different,” Acting Director of the United States Secret Service Ronald R. Rowe Jr. said Friday. “And those advanced teams, they know what they have to do make a secure environment for our protectees.”
The University of Alabama was notified of Trump’s trip, a statement confirmed Thursday.
“We have been notified that the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, plans to attend the Alabama-Georgia football game on Sept. 28 after receiving an invitation from a private citizen,” the statement reads. “The safety of our campus is and will remain our top priority, and UAPD will work closely with the U.S. Secret Service and other law enforcement partners to coordinate security.”
“Like for every UA football game, walk-through metal detectors will be in place and the clear bag policy will be strictly enforced,” the statement continues. “Additional safety measures will be enacted in collaboration with local and federal agencies, so fans are encouraged to arrive early to expedite the security screening process. The University’s focus will continue to be ensuring a safe and positive game day experience for the student-athletes, fans of both teams, and all campus visitors.”

A Washington-based person with knowledge of Trump’s campaign schedule informed the Tuscaloosa News Monday of the decision.
According to the university “a 360-degree security perimeter” is in place for all Alabama football home games. Fans can access the stadium through any security checkpoint and walk to their gate.
Gates for home football games at Bryant-Denny Stadium typically open two hours before kickoff. Alabama-Georgia is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff Sept. 28.
