Joyce Craig and Kelly Ayotte are tied in their race for governor, according to a poll released Thursday by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center.
While 47 percent of respondents said they would pick Craig if the election were held now, 46 percent said they would pick Ayotte, and 5 percent remained unsure, with a margin of sampling error of 2.3 percentage points.
These results come after the Saint Anselm College Survey Center published numbers Monday that showed Ayotte with a slim lead over Craig in what pollsters said they expect will be a “very competitive” race to the Nov. 5 finish line.
The UNH poll results noted that Craig, a former Manchester mayor, has a higher net favorability rating than Ayotte does, while Libertarian candidate Stephen Villee is virtually unknown.
The data also suggests Ayotte, a former US senator, may be lining up some support from ticket-splitters, whose votes she will almost certainly need to win, in light of the presidential race.

The UNH pollsters found that Vice President Kamala Harris has an 11-point lead over former president Donald J. Trump among New Hampshire voters. Eight percent of those who said they support Harris for president support Ayotte for governor. On the flip side, only 1 percent of those who picked Trump for president support Craig.
Ayotte sailed to victory last week in her GOP primary against former New Hampshire Senate President Chuck Morse. Craig prevailed over Executive Councilor Cinde Warmington in a much tighter Democratic primary. Their general election showdown will decide who succeeds Republican incumbent Governor Chris Sununu, who has endorsed Ayotte.
The final vote is 46 days away.
