MACKINAC ISLAND — A not-so-hidden gem on the Great Lakes is receiving its flowers once again, with Mackinac Island being named a top destination to visit for fall.
While Mackinac Island and its fudge are known to be a summer trip, USA Today Readers remind people not to count the island out after the summer rush, voting it as the number two place nationwide to visit for fall.

The Lake Huron island was ranked number two to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Allegany County, Maryland, Lafayette, Louisiana and Estes Park, Colorado were the other locations that cracked the top five.
In the USA Today article, Mackinac Island is celebrated for its “vibrant foliage” and access to fun trick-or-treating opportunities in the downtown shops.

Through the fall, residents and visitors alike can enjoy the cooling temperature for a nice bike ride around the 8-mile perimeter of the island, or put on their walking shoes for a trip up to Arch Rock.
