Rape survivor Hadley Duvall on access to abortion
“I can’t imagine not having a choice, but todays’ that’s the reality for many women and girls across America because of Donald Trump’s abortion bans.”
Hadley Duvall, the Kentucky woman whose advocacy for abortion rights has gained attention both statewide and nationally, is featured in a new ad for the Kamala Harris campaign released Wednesday.
In the 60-second ad titled “Monster,” Duvall talks about feeling lonely as a child because of sexual abuse and rape by her stepfather. She then says Donald Trump is to blame for the loss of federal abortion protections.
“Because Donald Trump overturned Roe v. Wade, girls and women all over the country have lost the right to choose, even for rape or incest,” Duvall said while brushing her hair and applying makeup.
Duvall, whose appearance in an abortion rights ad for Gov. Andy Beshear’s reelection campaign made her well-known across Kentucky, later appeared in an ad for President Joe Biden’s now-defunct reelection campaign in July and spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August.
“There are other survivors out there who have no options, and I want you to know that we see you. We hear you,” she said in her DNC speech, before telling the crowd Harris would sign a law “to restore the right to an abortion.”
Not long after the latest ad published Wednesday morning, Duvall said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” voters should feel uncomfortable voting for Trump because of his abortion stance. Trump supported the overturning of Roe v. Wade, but has also said he supports exceptions for rape and incest.

Duvall, in her mid-20s, is from Owensboro. She has remained on the political stage ever since her first abortion rights ad went viral last fall.
Among other things, Duvall supported state Sen. David Yates, D-Louisville, in his unsuccessful efforts to get a law passed to provide for exceptions to Kentucky’s abortion law during the 2024 legislative session, standing by his side during press conferences at the Capitol. In June she authored an opinion column in The Courier Journal, calling on people to vote in November to protect abortion rights.
