Tennessee football coach Josh Heupel on Vols’ win vs. Kent State

Tennessee football had a record-setting 71-0 win against Kent State on Saturday at Neyland Stadium.

Although Tennessee football hasn’t yet hosted an SEC game, students already are being told next season’s tickets to Neyland Stadium will again increase after prices rose in 2024 amid the team’s newfound success.

Ticket prices for students doubled in price this year, going from $10 to $20. Next year, students will have to pay $25 for home football games.

Student tickets are for sections D-K in Neyland Stadium. This area has bench seating and holds approximately 11,500 people − the “Rocky Top Rowdies,” as UT calls them.

Next season’s price increase might not sound huge, but it all adds up. If 11,500 students bought tickets to seven home games next season, UT would rake in just more than $2 million. That’s $402,500 more than the same scenario happening this year.

Neyland Stadium accommodates 415 tickets for the band and 405 tickets for student athletes each game, which are not included in the figures below. The figures suggest a more successful season tends to sell more student tickets:

2021 (7-6): 61,862 student tickets sold, plus 8,694 guest tickets2022 (11-2): 75,991 student tickets sold, plus 1,190 guest tickets2023 (9-4): 70,295 student tickets sold, plus 400 guest ticketsHow student tickets work for football at the University of Tennessee

Students download the Tennessee Athletics app to get tickets. After registering and signing in, students request tickets in a lottery. Requests open 10 days before the game, and the lottery lasts two days.

Students can pick one ticket, plus a guest ticket if demand is low, and can create or join groups to sit with friends.

If a student is picked, they have four days to buy a ticket. Students will forfeit their spot if they don’t buy the ticket in that window, and another round of students will have a chance to get tickets in a two-day period.

Students who miss getting a ticket during this time still have a chance if seats are open at 9 a.m. on game day.s

Students must have the tickets saved to their phone’s digital wallet. Screenshots will not work.

Credit-based system for student tickets at University of Tennessee

New this year, students earn T-Credits for attending sporting events throughout the year, including football. UT incentivizes students to explore the other sports programs UT offers with the credit system.

Students with more credits have a higher likelihood of being picked during the football ticket lottery. For groups, UT uses an average of every student’s credits when deciding if the group can get tickets.
