Here are this week’s nominees for The Arizona Republic’s boy’s and girl’s athletes of the week, sponsored by Diamond Kitchen & Bath. Nominees are based on performances in AIA-sanctioned sports. Vote for the top selection in each of our polls below. Voting will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and winners will be announced the next day on azcentral.com and in The Arizona Republic on Friday. Here are this week’s nominees, followed by poll (scroll down on poll to vote):
Girls
Taylor Biggambler, Flagstaff, cross-country, Jr.: Won her home meet at the Four Corners Invitational in Flagstaff on Saturday, running the 5,000-meter course in 18:25.50 at 7,000 feet of elevation. That time is tied for No. 3 in the state.
Katie McNulty, Tucson Catalina Foothills, cross-country, Jr.: Came up to the Valley and won the Ojo Rojo Invitational in Chandler on Saturday, running 18:15.30. That is a new state-leading time for the 5,000 meters.
Tessa Larkin, Phoenix Xavier Prep, volleyball, So.: Recorded 12 kills in a 3-0 win over Scottsdale Notre Dame Preparatory on Monday, and had 19 kills in Xavier Prep’s 3-0 victory over Phoenix Sandra Day O’Connor on Thursday.

Boys
Alex Bland, Flagstaff, cross-country, Jr.: Took first at his home meet at the Four Corners Invitational in Flagstaff on Saturday, running 15:50.50 for 5,000 meters at 7,000 feet of elevation. That time is No. 13 in Arizona.
Symond Martin, Page, cross-country, Jr.: Made the trip down to Chandler to race in the Ojo Rojo Invitational on Saturday, covering the 5,000-meter course in 15:20.60. That time moves Martin up to No. 2 in the state.
Hayden Fletcher, Peoria Liberty, football, Sr.: The first-year starter at quarterback broke the single-game school record for most passing yards as he finished 22 of 30 for 450 yards and 6 TDs in a 49-20 win over visiting Mesa Mountain View.
