On Monday, the Carolina Panthers made the decision to bench former Alabama quarterback and first-round pick Bryce Young in favor of 36-year-old veteran quarterback Andy Dalton. The decision comes after two games in which Young and the Panthers struggled to show any promise on the offensive side of the ball.
The Panthers have a new coaching regime in place this season for the fourth time since 2020. The instability has caused the future of the organization to be up in the air. It could be the best thing for Young that he was benched as he will likely receive an opportunity to play elsewhere. The former Heisman trophy winner will likely be dealt prior to the trade deadline. If that is the case, there are five ideal landing spots for Young.
Roll Tide Wire lists the five ideal landing spots for former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.
The New York Giants have had minimal success at the quarterback position in recent years. After all, the Giants front office decided to invest in former first-round pick Daniel Jones and it has not paid dividends thus far. With there being a lot of uncertainty and instability among the organization, it might make sense to try to bring in Bryce Young. Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers looks promising. There are several weapons for Young to get the ball to in East Rutherford. I believe that the Giants should try to trade for Young with hopes that a change of setting will bring out the best in him. It adds competition to the Giants quarterback room and makes it easier to bench Jones in favor of another former first-round pick.
The Las Vegas Raiders find themselves at 1-1 with a placeholder at the quarterback position in Gardner Minshew. While Minshew has done nothing to lose the starting job, it just seems like Young would be an upgrade. Plus, he could be a project that the Raiders could greatly benefit from in the near future. Young would be surrounded by the likes of Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, and Brock Bowers. Each of which are poised to have successful careers in Sin City. If the Raiders decide to trade for Young, he would have an opportunity to beat out Minshew to be the team’s starter before the midway point of the season.
The Los Angeles Rams have their starting quarterback for this season. That is Matthew Stafford. The reason that I have included the Rams on this list is simply a result of Stafford’s age. He will be 37-years-old in February. With Stafford potentially nearing his retirement, it would make sense to bring in someone like Young. He could learn and develop under Stafford this season and be ready to fill in when his number is called. Young is an upgrade from backup quarterback Stetson Bennett. It would save the Rams a draft pick as well by going in this direction.
The Tennessee Titans have not had an elite quarterback since Vince Young in 2010. That is saying quite a lot. Quarterbacks like Ryan Tannehill and Marcus Mariota each showed signs of hope but never amounted to be elite enough for the Titans comfort. Current quarterback Will Levis has shown flashes of being elite but has been very inconsistent as well. While Young has been incosistent, it could stem from the supporting cast that he has in Carolina. If Young were traded to the Titans, he would have a supporting cast headlined by Calvin Ridley, Tony Pollard, and DeAndre Hopkins. A massive upgrade from what he was dealt in Carolina. The move would seemingly benefit the Young and the Titans organization in my opinion.
Given the recent series of events regarding former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and his history of injuries, the Miami Dolphins could decide to trade for Young. It would make a lot of sense as well. Whether the Dolphins or Tagovailoa want to admit it or not, another concussion would likely result in Tagovailoa’s retirement. Therefore, it seems like Young would be the best potential option to replace Tagovailoa. He is a young talent that would have the potential to thrive in a Mike McDaniel-led offense headlined by the likes of De’Von Achane, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle. Young to South Beach would be an interesting move but one that makes sense for both parties given the current circumstances.
