Taylor Swift Switches Seasons (and Eras?) With a New Lipstick Shade

When you picture superstar Taylor Swift, there’s a specific beauty look you probably have in mind, and it involves a cat eye and red lip. It’s a distinctive element of her style since her 2011 Speak Now tour—so much so that she’s sung about her “cat eye sharp enough to kill a man” and “red lip classic thing that you like.” But the singer’s most recent appearances have us noticing something major has changed: Her vibrant ruby lips are now a shade of peachy terra-cotta.

The transformation was first spotted last weekend when Swift attended Karen Elson’s wedding at Electric Lady Studios and then later the following week at the 2024 Video Music Awards. And because of Swift’s habit of leaving her fans Easter eggs—hidden messages in how she dresses, her songs, and much more—fans are becoming suspicious.

It should be noted that the internet has theories about what the change in lipstick could mean. Of course, fans have been begging for the release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version) and hope that the lipstick, along with the Dior outfit she wore at last week’s Video Music Awards, is a sign that it’s coming.

Theories aside, what is clear is that she’s favoring a lighter lip color going into fall. The earthy shade perfectly plays into Pantone’s prediction that peach would be the color of 2024. Shop our favorite lip colors below to get Swift’s style.
