Broadband offices in North Dakota, Idaho, and American Samoa will be able to request access to BEAD funds for implementation following the latest round of approvals from the NTIA.

The NTIA announced initial proposals all three had been approved last week, with a release dated Sept. 12.

As a result of the approvals, officials in Idaho will now be able to request access to more than $583 million that has been allocated for the state in the BEAD program.

Similarly, North Dakota will now be able to request access to over $130 million in BEAD funds set aside for the state. American Samoa will also be able to request access to more than $37 million in BEAD funds to begin implementation of their initial proposal.

NTIA Administrator Alan Davidson congratulated all three entities for receiving initial proposal approvals.

“Today, Idaho, North Dakota, and American Samoa can move their Internet for All efforts from planning to action,” Davidson said.

The latest approvals further reduce the list of states and territories still awaiting final approval for the second volume of their initial BEAD proposal, according to the NTIA’s website.

Earlier this month, Mississippi, South Dakota, and Michigan received initial proposal approvals.

As a result, Mississippi will now be able to request access to $1.2 billion in funds allocated for the state.

South Dakota will now be able to request access to over $207 million in broadband funds allocated for the state, and Michigan will be able to request access to $1.5 billion to deploy or upgrade high-speed internet networks, according to NTIA releases on Aug. 28 and Aug. 29.
