PAWLET, Vt. (WRGB) — Vermont State Police are investigating “suspicious deaths” in Rutland County, according to a release Sunday.
Early Sunday morning, authorities said they received a call to report a “suspicious person.” Upon investigation, State Police were reportedly led to a residence on State Route 133, where troopers located deceased victims. Authorities did not indicate how many victims they found.
“This investigation is in its preliminary stages and involves members of the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Search Team, Field Force Division and Victim Services Unit,” a spokesperson said in a release. “Initial work by detectives indicates this was an isolated event with no identified threat to the community.”

According to a release, the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington will be conducting autopsies on the victims’ remains, after which authorities said their names would be released, following confirmation of identities and notification of relatives.
