BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Texas A&M football finds themselves back in a couple top 25 polls after defeating Florida (1-2, 0-1 SEC) in Gainesville on Saturday, ending the Aggies 10-game SEC road game losing streak.
The win also marks head coach Mike Elko’s first conference victory of the season.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Marcel Reed got the start after a game-time decision to sit Conner Weigman due to injury was made. Reed accounted for 84 rushing yards coupled with 117 passing yards and three touchdowns in his first career start.
After the win, Texas A&M is now in the USA Today Coaches Poll Top 25 at No. 24 and ranks 25th in the AP Top 25.
Texas jumped past Georgia for the top spot on Sunday in the AP Top 25 poll for the first time since 2008. The move comes after the Longhorns demolished UTSA 56-7 and the Bulldogs barely escaped Kentucky 13-12.
