How likely is it that the Oklahoma City Thunder will have at least one title by 2028? The pedantic among you are already mouthing the first word of ‘Well, actually,’ and we of course mean since the era of when the ball club was still known as the Seattle SuperSonics. And why 2028, you ask, of all the years in front of us?
Well, that is the projected year that the Thunder’s new arena would be open, and it sure would be nice to have a banner to hang in that arena that was not won in the era of the SuperSonics. This very question was recently explored by the hosts of the Athletic “Down to Dunk – an OKC Thunder Podcast” show, Andrew Schlecht, Jay Smith, Luke Stephens, Taylor Dickerson, Michele Berra, and Alex Speers, on a recent episode of their show.
