The No. 5 Nebraska volleyball team played host to No. 14 Arizona State in the first match of the Nebraska Classic Friday night. The Huskers built on their momentum following Tuesday’s five-set win over Creighton by sweeping the Sun Devils.
Nebraska won the sweep following a fierce battle with Arizona State, winning the 25-20, 26-24, and 25-19 sets, respectively. The Huskers finished with 48 kills off 113 attacks, while the Sun Devils delivered 40 kills off 122 attacks.
Merritt Beason led Nebraska on the night, racking up 15 kills off 28 attacks, three blocks, a service ace and a dig. Andi Jackson and Harper Murray each pitched in 10 kills in the win. Jackson earned her 10 kills off 18 attacks while serving up two blocks and two digs.
Murray grabbed her 10 kills off 35 attacks and snatched nine digs and two set assists. Rebekah Allick tallied seven kills off 13 attacks and led Nebraska in blocks with five.
Bergen Reilly grabbed her 15th double-double of the season by leading Nebraska in both set assists and digs. She finished with 41 set assists and 15 digs while earning two blocks.
The Huskers improve to 7-1 on the season and will conclude the Nebraska Classic against Wichita State on Saturday afternoon. The match is set for 2 p.m. on B1G+.
