Drunk driving incidents are a recurring problem in the U.S. In cities with an influx of college students, this could become a bigger issue.

According to data collected by Gruber Law Offices, Arlington, Texas has one of the highest percentages of deadly crashes involving substance abuse.

Gruber Law Offices reviewed National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data from 143 U.S. cities with major universities, ranking each location by the percentage of fatal incidents involving substance abuse that occurred during the fall months of September to November between 2018 and 2022.

Here is where this Texas city ranked among the top ten college areas with the most fall crash fatalities linked to drugs or alcohol.

Top 10 college towns with highest crash fatalities tied to drugs or alcohol

According to the data, Arlington is ranked ninth, where a third (33%) of fall crash fatalities were tied to drug or alcohol use. Out of the 48 total recorded fatal crashes in Arlington, 16 of those were linked to substance use.
