Tennessee vs. Kent State simulation for EA Sports College Football 25

It’s Week 3 of football in Tennessee, with the No. 7 Volunteers (2-0) hosting the Kent State Golden Flashes (0-2) at Neyland Stadium, and Knox News has the scoop on what the outcome might be – if you trust video games.

Last week’s iteration of our EA Sports College Football 25 simulations was a near 50/50 split, with the NC State Wolfpack winning a 53 of 100 games on PS5. Turns out the video game was off by a lot, with Tennessee defeating NC State 51-10 in the Duke Mayo Classic under the lights of Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Sept. 6.

This week’s game takes place at 7:45 p.m. Sept. 14, which isn’t an option in the game. To get as close as possible, we set the kickoff time to 8 p.m. and the weather to rain, which was in the forecast at the time of our simulations.

Here’s what EA Sports College Football 25 predicted across 100 simulations for Tennessee vs. Kent State.

Tennessee vs. Kent State: EA Sports College Football 25 results

Unsurprisingly, Tennessee dominated Kent State en route to winning 96 of 100 games.

Two of Kent State’s wins were in low-scoring games. One was decided by one point with a last-minute touchdown, and the final game ended with a 34-23 Kent State victory.

Tennessee took commanding leads in most of the games. This week’s simulations featured the first two Tennessee shutouts, with the Vols winning 34-0 in Game 75 and 14-0 in Game 87.

Only one game went to overtime, ending with a 16-13 Tennessee victory in Game 90.

The Vols scored an average of 32.05 points per game, and the Golden Flashes scored an average of 15.4.

Tennessee average yards: 205.54 rushing, 200.07 passing and 506.06 total

Kent State average yards: 116.38 rushing, 167.53 passing yards and 398.86 total

While Knox News reporter Mike Wilson predicts Tennessee winning in a 73-6 blowout, here’s what EA Sports College Football 25 predicts about the matchup.

Biggest UT win: 59-10Biggest Kent State win: 34-23Highest scoring game: 52-41, TennesseeLowest scoring game: 14-0, TennesseeClosest game: Game 85 ended with a one-point Kent State win 24-23. Game 94 ended with a one-point Tennessee win 28-27.Most total yards: Tennessee covered 764 total yards between passing, rushing and special teams.Biggest surprise: Throughout the simulations, both teams kept trying two-point conversions. While sometimes this choice was for no apparent reason, Tennessee did succeed twice to prevent Kent State from winning with a field goal. Most impressive plays: In Game 3, Kent State’s Tommy Ulatowski threw to Luke Floriea for a 70-yard touchdown, followed by an 87-yard punt return touchdown by Tennessee’s Squirrel White in the same game. Andre Turrentine of Tennessee had a pick six in Game 32. Nico Iamaleava threw a pass to Chris Brazzell II for a 93-yard Tennessee touchdown in Game 42. Keenan Pili got a pick six in Game 71. Kent State’s Oliver Billotte recovered a fumble for a touchdown in Game 86.Most Valuable Players: Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava took home the most MVP awards with 69. Tennessee players with at least one MVP: Wide receiver Squirrel White, running back Dylan Sampson, wide receiver Dont’e Thornton Jr., running back DeSean Bishop, wide receiver Bru McCoy, running back Cameron Seldon, quarterback Gaston Moore, running back Khalifa Keith, running back Peyton Lewis and wide receiver Chris Brazzell II all were named MVP at least once. Kent State players with at least one MVP: Quarterback Tommy Ulatowski, running backs Ky Thomas and running back Gavin Garcia.Another interesting observation from EA Sports College Football 25

We did not include Tennessee middle linebacker Nova Francois in our MVP list because, as far as we can tell, he doesn’t actually exist.

The likely scenario is that some players didn’t sign NIL deals with the game, so EA created a football player in their absence. This fake player wears No. 52, the real-life number of linebacker Eli Purcell.
