Charlamagne Tha God called President Joe Biden the “donkey of the day” for donning a MAGA hat in what the White House called a “gesture” of “bipartisan unity.”
“Donkey of the day for Thursday, September 12th, goes to President Joe Biden,” Charlamagne declared on The Breakfast Club on Thursday.
At a 9/11 commemoration ceremony in Pennsylvania, Biden had a light exchange with a supporter of former President Donald Trump, and at one point, he put on the man’s MAGA hat. Trump’s campaign immediately trolled the president and thanked him for his support.
Charlamagne said the viral moment proves that “you got to keep Joe Biden in the basement.”
“You call him a threat to democracy. Okay, if he’s a threat to democracy, why are you wearing paraphernalia that supports him being president in 2024?” he said.
The radio host, who refused to endorse Biden when he was still running for president, argued it was a bad look even as a joke considering the hat moment so closely followed Vice President Kamala Harris’s debate against Trump. The focus, Charlamagne added, needs to be solely to win the election, predicting Trump will undoubtedly challenge the results if he loses.
“Look, I’m all for bipartisan togetherness, okay, but not when you’re trying to win and election, and somebody please tell President Biden this isn’t the Republican Party he came up with. Okay, it’s MAGA,” he said.
Charlamagne joked Biden might have been confused and thought MAGA stood for “Make America Geriatric Again.”
“Every time Joe Biden steps outside, his GPS tells him he’s arrived but it’s never where he meant to go,” he said.
The radio host gave Biden a diagnosis for being “donkey of the day,” and it’s to act more like a vice president and keep quiet.
“President Biden, it’s time for you to move like a VP for these last 50 days and just be quiet,” he said.
