RNC, Trump campaign sues Nevada over non-citizen voting

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Donald Trump’s campaign, the Republican National Committee and the Nevada GOP is suing Nevada.

The filing is against Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar over claims allowing non-citizens to register to vote and influence elections.

According to a press release, Trump’s campaign claims they discovered evidence on non-citizens on Nevada’s voter rolls.

It claims Nevada has a lack of citizenship verification procedures such as checking DMV records and federal databases.

The campaign calls for Nevada to take immediate action to verify the citizenship of registered voters and prevent non-citizens from voting in the presidential elections.

“Allowing non-citizens to vote suppresses legal voters, undermines the democratic system, and violates the law,” said RNC Chairman Michael Whatley. “Democrats continue to put non-citizens first and Americans last as they allow non-citizens to vote and interfere in American elections. We have filed suit in Nevada to protect the vote and stop this Democrat election interference scheme.”

“Nevada’s elections should be a reflection of its citizens’ voices, not influenced by non-citizens who have no legal standing to participate,” said NVGOP Chairman Michael McDonald. “Any efforts to allow non-citizens to vote threatens the very foundation of our elections and diminishes the power of lawful voters across our state. This isn’t just a legal issue—it’s about protecting the rights of Nevadans and preserving the integrity of our elections.”

The Nevada SOS sent a statement to FOX5. It says only United States citizens are eligible to vote in Nevada elections.

“Only United States citizens are eligible to vote in Nevada’s elections. There are already numerous safeguards in place to prevent noncitizens, or anyone ineligible to vote, from casting a ballot. Any claims of a widespread problem are false and only create distrust in our elections. The Secretary of State’s Office is focused on running successful, safe and fair elections on behalf of the voters.”
