City of Waterville preps to host the 60th Maine State Fire Convention

WATERVILLE, Maine (WABI) – The 60th Annual Maine Fire Convention is coming to Waterville this weekend. For the first time since 2011, the city of Waterville is hosting the three day event. This morning they began setting up.

The weekend will begin with live music, food trucks and a beer garden at Head of Falls Park Friday night. It will run through Sunday with a parade, muster and memorial on Saturday throughout the day.

Not only is this a great way to celebrate firefighters, but a nice way for different fire departments to connect and network, and a chance to show off the city.

“The city has grown a lot in the last ten years, we’ve invested in Main Street, we’ve invested in this location here at the Head of the Falls and I think it’s important for us to show what Waterville has become. We obviously work well under pressure but it’s also nice for us to sit and just socialize and network without the stress of a fire call,” said Waterville Firefighter and Convention Chairman Dan Mayotte.
