The matchup between the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs vs. Kentucky Wildcats was one of the most hyped matchups of the week, so much so that ESPN was projected to head to Kroger Field for their “College GameDay” show. Unfortunately, it will not happen, and Kirk Herbstreit addressed why on a response to someone on X, formerly know on Twittter.
“Because Kentucky spit the bit last week,” Herbstreit said,”CGD (College GameDay) was a lock for UK if Cats won last week and we would have called the game as well. But South Carolina dominating that game we always adjust to the results from the previous week.”
Kentucky suffered an embarrassing 31-6 loss to the Gamecocks last week.
Now, Herbstreit and the rest of College GameDay crew will head to Columbia, South Carolina for the Gamecocks’ matchup vs. the LSU Tigers.
If College GameDay did go to Lexington, it would be the first time Kentucky hosted ESPN in 2007. They did see the Wildcats play the Bulldogs in Athens back in 2021. The Bulldogs won 30-13.
Kentucky’s sputtering offense will take on a Bulldogs team that has only allowed six total points in their season.
