Iowa State University’s fall group includes 5,906 first years, giving them 30,432 students total. A statement from Iowa State attributes a 16% increase in enrollment over the past five years, in part, to a growing interest in STEM programs offered by the university.

As for the University of Northern Iowa, 1,546 first-year students are enrolled this fall with 9,283 total students.
