Tim Walz speaks in Mesa before the presidential debate on Tuesday

Gwen Walz, the wife of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, will hit the presidential campaign trail in Arizona Monday for the first time.
Walz will stump for Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz in Phoenix, Flagstaff and Kingman, according to the Arizona Harris-Walz team.
“First Lady Walz will barnstorm the Grand Canyon State as part of the campaign’s efforts to mobilize support, drive enthusiasm, and reach the voters who will decide this election as we approach the closing weeks of the campaign,” the Harris-Walz campaign said in a written statement.
Walz plans to contrast Democrats’ vision for the country with that of former President Donald Trump. She’ll pay particular attention to issues like abortion, taxes and Project 2025, the conservative Heritage Foundation’s sweeping policy proposal that Trump has disavowed.
Walz is the latest Harris-Walz campaign surrogate to visit Arizona in recent weeks. Second gentleman Doug Emhoff took a trip to Tucson on Thursday, the same day that Trump held an event in the city. Tim Walz also made his first solo Arizona trip this week, spending the lead-up to the presidential debate campaigning around Phoenix. Harris and Tim Walz also held a large rally in Glendale last month.
The Minnesota first lady, who is an educator, will start the day in Phoenix with a meet and greet with members of the Arizona Education Association. She met Tim Walz when they were both teachers in Nebraska, according to the campaign.
Later, she’ll attend a Women for Harris event in Flagstaff and end the campaign swing in Kingman with the campaign’s Mohave County supporters.
