TEXARKANA, Ar. (KTAL/KMSS) — Arkansas High Football has not begun the season the way they had hoped to, losing its first two games of the season.
But the Hogs are not letting that get them down. They know that is not how the rest of the season will go.
Texas High dominant in two wins to start season
“We’re sticking together well,” running backs coach Dennis Johnson said. “We come out here and we encourage each other. Someone’s being down, we pick each other up. As coaches, we don’t have to pick them up they pick each other up.”
This week makes for the perfect opportunity for Arkansas High to turn things around. On Friday, the Hogs host El Dorado, where head coach Trey Outlaw was a defensive coordinator prior to joining the Arkansas High staff.
“It’s a must win for him,” Johnson said. “It’s bragging rights, I would want to win that.”
The players know what is at stake this week and want to help their coach come out on top.
“It’s made us put a fire in our souls, making us want to come out and work even harder,” junior Xavier Hill-Crawford said. “We’re off to a bad start right now, but I feel like the game we just had was a wakeup call to us. I feel like this week we’ve been more focused and more dominant with our practices lately, so I feel like we’re going to do good this week.”

El Dorado has started off its season 3-0 and will no doubt bring a challenge to the Hogs, but one Arkansas High is ready and excited to face.
That matchup will take place at Arkansas High. Kickoff is set for 7 pm.
