The competition for Tennessee softball to defend its back-to-back SEC championships got a little tougher with the addition of Oklahoma and Texas to the conference – and the Lady Vols will face both of them on the road in 2025.
The SEC softball schedule for the 2025 season was announced Wednesday, and Tennessee has a challenging path to a third straight SEC regular-season championship.
The Lady Vols will start conference play on the road March 7-9 at Georgia before hosting Arkansas on March 21-23. Their third series will be March 28-30 at Oklahoma, which became the first program to win four straight national championships in June.
Notably, next season’s SEC slate does not include Alabama, LSU or Florida due to the rotating matchups.
Tennessee will also play Mississippi State, Auburn and Texas A&M at home in Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. The Auburn series will mark the return of former assistant coaches Chris and Kate Malveaux, who left UT after last season to become the co-head coaches for the Tigers.
The Lady Vols will play Texas on the road April 11-13. The Longhorns, who were the No. 1 overall seed, made a run to the Women’s College World Series final last season before losing to the Sooners in two games. In 2023, Tennessee knocked Texas out in the NCAA super regional to advance to its first WCWS since 2015.

Tennessee swept the SEC titles in 2023 for the first time in program history, and it followed that with a second consecutive regular-season championship last season. But the Lady Vols fell short of a second straight trip to the WCWS, losing in three games to Alabama in the NCAA super regional.
