The much-awaited US presidential debate between Republican candidate Donald Trump and the newly elected Democratic nominee Kamala Harris is just a few hours away.

Both Trump and Harris are set to clash in their first televised debate which comes less than two months ahead of the US Presidential elections 2024.

The face-off comes after US President Joe Biden, on July 21, announced his withdrawal from the Presidential race and endorsed Vice President Harris.

Interestingly, the Trump-Harris debate that will be held in Pennsylvania will not have a live audience and also there won’t be live microphones, i.e. the candidates’ mic will be off when it is not their turn to speak.

Trump-Harris debate time

The US Presidential debate between Trump and Harris will be live on Tuesday at 9 pm EST. In India, it will be watched on Wednesday at 6:30 am IST.

Where to watch Trump-Harris Presidential debate?

The Trump-Harris debate will be hosted by ABC News. The clash of words between the two leaders will be moderated by “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir and ABC News Live “Prime” anchor Linsey Davis.

The debate will be broadcast with two commercial breaks.

The debate between Harris and Trump is expected to be simulcast on ABC News Live 24/7 streaming network, CBS News’ live, CBS News 24/7, CNN, C-SPAN, Fox News, and NBC News.

Rules for Harris-Trump US President debate

In August, candidates had agreed to debate rules, which include standing at a podium, muting microphones throughout the debate except for when it’s the candidate’s turn to speak and excluding props or pre-written notes on the podium.

Trump and Harris will only have a pen, a paper pad and a bottle of water.

Also, during the two commercial breaks, the candidates will not be allowed to communicate with their campaign staff.

As per ABC, once the debate is live, there won’t be any opening remarks, no contender will be given early access to topics or questions.

Also, the closing remarks of each candidate would be limited to two minutes.

During the debate, candidates will not be allowed to ask each other questions.

Both Harris and Trump will get only two minutes to answer questions, two minutes for rebuttals, and one minute for any further information.

On Tuesday, a virtual coin toss was done to establish the order of closing statements and podium placement. Trump won the coin toss and chose to determine the sequence of closing statements.

Also, Trump will be delivering the final closing statement.

Harris chose the right podium position on stage left.
