Philadelphia readies for Harris-Trump presidential debate

The Kamala Harris-Donald Trump showdown is the first presidential debate since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race as the Democratic nominee.

With fewer than 60 days until the election, both Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are ramping up their campaign schedules, eager to entice undecided voters. The stakes are higher than ever, with recent polling showing Trump regaining a slight lead over Harris for the first time since mid-August.

The two will face off Tuesday night in Philadelphia during the second presidential debate of the election season — and Trump’s first debate against Harris.

Here’s what Trump’s schedule for the upcoming week looks like.

On Friday, Trump is scheduled to hold a 9 a.m. press conference at the Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes, a Los Angeles suburb.

The event comes a week after his confrontational Sept. 6 press conference at Trump Tower in New York, where he railed against multiple women who have accused him of sexual assault, and his lawyers after appealing a jury’s $5 million award to writer E. Jean Carroll for sexual abuse and defamation.

Later in the day, Trump is scheduled to travel to the Bay Area to attend a fundraiser in Woodside, California, hosted by billionaire software developer Tom Siebel and his wife, Stacey. Tom Siebel, a major donor to Trump’s 2024 campaign, is a second cousin once removed of Jennifer Siebel Newsom, who is married to California governor Gavin Newsom, the Los Angeles Times reported. Tickets are going for as much as $500,000 per couple.
